A full finance function, without the headcount
Seven services covering everything most small and medium businesses need, from the weekly bookkeeping through to the tax planning around your year end.
Bookkeeping
Clean, current books are the foundation of everything else. We keep yours accurate and up to date so you always know where the business stands, rather than finding out ten months later.
- Bank reconciliations and transaction coding
- Sales and purchase ledger management
- Cloud software set up and kept tidy
- Regular management figures, not just year end
Accounts preparation
Annual accounts prepared properly and filed on time, with the numbers explained to you in plain English before anything goes near Companies House or HMRC.
- Statutory accounts for limited companies
- Sole trader and partnership accounts
- Self assessment tax returns
- A walkthrough of what the figures actually mean
Payroll
Your team paid correctly and on time, every time, with the RTI submissions, pensions and paperwork handled behind the scenes so it stops being your problem.
- Weekly, fortnightly or monthly payroll runs
- RTI submissions to HMRC
- Auto enrolment pension administration
- Payslips, P60s and starter and leaver paperwork
VAT
VAT returns prepared, reviewed and filed under Making Tax Digital, with an eye on whether the scheme you are on is still the right one for the business you have now.
- Quarterly VAT return preparation and filing
- Making Tax Digital compliant submissions
- Registration, deregistration and scheme reviews
- Flat rate, cash and annual accounting schemes
Corporation and capital gains tax
Tax handled with a bit of forward thinking. We look at the reliefs available to you, the timing of decisions and the structure of the business, rather than just reporting what already happened.
- Corporation tax computations and returns
- Capital gains calculations and reporting
- Reliefs, allowances and loss planning
- Correspondence with HMRC on your behalf
CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
For contractors and subcontractors in construction, CIS comes with its own monthly deadlines and deductions. We handle the returns and the checks, and make sure subcontractors get back what they are owed.
- Monthly CIS returns for contractors
- Subcontractor verification with HMRC
- Deduction statements issued on time
- Reclaiming overpaid deductions for subcontractors
Limited assurance engagement
Where a lender, investor or other third party needs more comfort than unaudited accounts give them, but a full statutory audit would be overkill.
- Independent review of your financial statements
- A formal assurance report for third parties
- Useful for lenders, funders and incoming investors
- A proportionate alternative to a full audit
Things people ask before they switch
Bas and his close-knit team. Blueband is Bas's practice, and you have direct access to him and to a knowledgeable support team who know your business, rather than a switchboard, an account manager or someone new each time.
No. FreeAgent is our platform of choice, but we work just as comfortably in Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, so in most cases we fit around whatever you already use. If you are still on spreadsheets or paper we will talk you through the options and set the right one up for you.
A fixed fee, agreed in writing after your free consultation, based on the services you actually need. You will not be billed by the hour and you will not get an invoice you were not expecting.
Not for you. We write to your existing accountant, request your records and handle the professional clearance process. In most cases the only thing you need to do is confirm you are happy for us to go ahead.
It means keeping digital records and filing through compatible software rather than typing figures into a form. It already applies to VAT registered businesses and is being extended to income tax for sole traders and landlords in stages. We will tell you exactly when it affects you and get you ready ahead of time.
No. We are based in Orpington and see plenty of clients across Bromley and Kent face to face, but much of our work is done remotely for businesses all over the UK. Cloud accounting means location makes very little difference.
Yes. We file monthly CIS returns for contractors, verify subcontractors with HMRC, issue deduction statements, and help subcontractors reclaim deductions they have overpaid. A lot of our clients work in construction, so it is routine work for us.
It is an independent review of your financial statements resulting in a formal report, for situations where a lender, funder or incoming investor wants more comfort than unaudited accounts provide, but where a full statutory audit would be disproportionate.
Start with your business type
What you have to file depends on how the business is set up. Here is how we work with each.
Sole traders
You are the business, so your personal tax and your business tax are the same conversation. We keep the record keeping light, file your self assessment on time, and make sure you are claiming everything you are entitled to.
Partnerships
Partnerships need the partnership return and each partner's own position handled together, or figures start to disagree with each other. We look after both sides so profit shares, drawings and personal tax all line up.
Limited companies
More reporting, more deadlines and more decisions about how you take money out of the business. We handle the statutory side and talk you through the choices, so the structure works for you rather than against you.
Let's have a proper conversation about your numbers
